I recently graduated from Loughborough University with a BA (HONS) in Multimedia Textiles. Throughout this course I have continually developed and refined my studio practice in conjunction with my presentation and professional skills.

University: Loughborough University 2003-2006
Course of Study: BA (HONS)
Multimedia Textiles Passed with Second Class Honours, Upper Division
During my time at Loughborough University I was able to commit myself to developing a number of different skills. As the course was almost entirely self directed this required a high level of self-motivation and the ability to meet deadlines. Predominantly consisting of studio practice the course has enabled me to progress creatively, yet at the same time encourage the development of other key skills. As a result I have also worked in a team environment, developed presentation skills, refined my professional skills and contextualized my future position in a constantly changing field.

Shop assistant - Joan Pressley Hats, Devizes 2002-2005
For three years during the summer holidays I have worked in this very well known hat shop, mending, designing and altering hats and headpieces for weddings. This experience has developed my colour and compositional skills, enabling me to adapt to new materials and apply original ideas. A large part of my time was also spent dealing directly with the customers, advising on and meeting their needs.
Kitchen assistant - George & Dragon, Rowde, Devizes 2002-2003
Whilst studying for my Art foundation I worked along side the Sous-chef in this Award-winning fish restaurant, preparing starters, puddings and certain main courses. This taught me how to work efficiently and to play my part of a team under the pressure of a kitchen environment.
Stylist Assistant - Homes and Gardens, Bed shoot 08/06/2005
I spent a day with Lisa Brown a freelance stylist assisting a bed shoot. It was situated in Street Studios in London. I helped set up the beds and ensured the bed linen was ironed and clean. It was a hard days work and valuable experience.
Showroom Assistant - Watts of Westminster, Chelsea Harbour 27/06/2005
- 08/07/2005
I worked for Watts of Westminster ecclesiastical furnishers for two weeks. I manned the showroom at Chelsea Harbour whilst a member of staff was on holiday. I had to serve customers who were mainly interiors designers, advice and help with their decisions and supply them with cuttings. I had to answer the phone and deal with any customer queries and take orders. I was able to understand the fabrics and wallpapers and got to know the designs quite well. Watts have a vast collection of beautiful fabrics, I found my time there inspirational and I learnt a great deal of not only administration skills but also the process of design for interiors and the actual fabrics themselves.
Returns- Happy Magazine 20/07/2005
- 22/07/2005
I worked at the Happy Magazine a new fashion/shopping magazine in London; I was working in the returns department returning clothes that had been used on shoots for the magazine. I was able to learn how a magazine worked and talk to some of the stylists and editors. By being responsible for the returning of clothes I learnt many PRs for various fashion retail companies. It was a busy and interesting week.
Assistant – Siggi Millinary 25/07/2005
-29/07/2005
Siggi is a milliner I have always loved his hats are beautiful and have inspired me enormously. I was fortunate enough to spend a week in his shop working with his staff and learning the skills and techniques used in millenary. I made a head piece trimmed a hat and made trimmings for a particular modal hat. It was a fantastic week and I learnt a huge amount.
Achievements
New Designers Brintons Collective Award
I was included in this award to Loughbrough University’s Textile graduates for the best stand at the exhibition.
Duke of Edinburgh Award – Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards.
The Gold is one of my proudest achievements. I developed valuable leadership skills and learnt how to be a team player. I learnt how to manage my time efficiently and to work under pressure. I had to mix and communicate with people of all ages and from all walks of life. I also had to endure great physical pressure. I believe all these things show my determination and perseverance in completing difficult or challenging tasks.
Senior 3D Art Prize
This prize was awarded to me at the end of my final year at Godolphin School. It was awarded for outstanding work and commitment to Art.
